Bad Boys II (2003)

In this buddy cop action film sequel by the same director Michael Bay after Bad Boys (1995), the duo of Martin Lawrence and Will Smith as Miami-Dade County narcotics cops Marcus Burnett (a sexually-deprived family man) and Mike Lowrey (a swinging playboy bachelor) was reprised. They were again in pursuit of drug-dealing criminals in Miami, including ecstasy drug dealer/smuggler Hector Juan Carlos "Johnny" Tapia (Jordi Molla), head of a major Cuban drug cartel, who was also working with Russian drug distributors.

During their investigations as they continually argued with each other, Mike and Marcus discovered how Tapia was smuggling the highly-potent ecstasy into the country. He was stashing the drugs inside dead bodies in the local Spanish Palms Mortuary, and then returning the cash proceeds hidden in wooden coffins. Other underground groups involved in the profitable drug-trafficking operations (and causing gang warfare) included a violent Haitian Zoe Pound gang.

Marcus' younger sister, Sydney "Syd" Burnett (Gabrielle Union) was a DEA agent, while also engaged in a secret romantic relationship with Mike, without his partner Marcus' knowledge. She was also revealed to be working undercover with Johnny Tapia and his money-laundering cohort and drug distributor - Miami nightclub owner and Russian mafia boss Alexei (Peter Stormare). After Tapia eliminated Alexei as a competitor, Syd's life was even more endangered.

A successful DEA and Coast Guard raid on Tapia's Miami residence and the mortuary resulted in the confiscation of Tapia's drugs and cash, but as he fled to Cuba, he took Syd as his kidnapped hostage to his compound-hideout. With Mike and Marcus, covert operations were arranged to rescue Syd between the police, SWAT teams, and the DEA.

Tapia's Cuban mansion and compound were destroyed, and Mike and Marcus rescued Syd in a yellow Hummer, while pursued by an enraged Tapia and the Cuban military. The conflict ended in a minefield outside the U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, where Tapia was killed by Marcus firing his last bullet into Tapia's head.

- "Me? I shot you? I mean, I was shooting. I did at lot of shooting. But I'm not saying I shot you in the ass... but I'm not saying I didn't shoot you... (Mike inspected Marcus' wound) But damn! Somebody shot you in the ass!"

- "Okay, look, we're partners, but we are partners with boundaries. Uhm, we got a new rule. From now on, you can't say the word 'flaccid' to me.....This is our little 'boundary box.' So we gonna take the word 'flaccid' and we're gonna put it in there with my mom's titties, and your erection problems, and we're gonna close this box and we're gonna throw this bitch in the ocean. And the only way that you can get to this box is you gotta be motherf--kin' Jacques Cousteau. We cool?"

- "In front of my babies, you got porno and homo shows up in here? What kind of freak-ass store is this? Hmm, and you two muthaf--kas need Jesus."

- "Have my daughter home at 10:01. If she's ain't home at 10:01, I'm in the car, OK, locked, loaded and huntin' your motherf--kin' ass down."
- "And I'm gonna be with him. And if I'm there, you know what it's gonna be? Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, n----a...."
- "You a virgin?...You keep it that way. Ain't gonna be no f--king' tonight."

- "22 cars and a boat, totaled? How the hell did you sink a boat?"

The botched raid and violent shootout between Klansmen (discovered to be small-time buyers of ecstasy) outside of Miami in a marshy swamp, teamed with the delayed arrival of Miami Police's Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT). The scene included Mike accidentally shooting Marcus in the buttocks (the bullet's path was in slow-motion).

The massive shootout and bloody gun battle in a drug house full of Haitian gang members, with camera tricks including 360 degree sweeps and perspectives.

The scene in a video-store when Mike and Marcus had a deep conversation about Marcus' deeply personal problems and issues, and Mike insisted they must have boundaries. They were unaware that their entire discussion was being broadcast live to the store patrons, including one offended 'Heavy Black Woman' (Sharon Wilkins).

The scene of Mike and Marcus posing as pest (rat) exterminators at Johnny Tapia's extravagant Miami residence.

The multiple car chases (resulting in massive pileups), including an extensive gun battle shootout and car chase through Miami, between police cars, Mike's high-speed Ferrari 550, and a stolen 18-wheeler car carrier driven by the Haitians. The gangsters tossed cars (15 Mercedes Benz) from a transporter at the detectives driving a high-speed pursuit on the freeway, resulting in carnage-damage to dozens of cars on the freeway, the transporter, and a boat.

The intimidation of Marcus' daughter Megan's 15 year-old date Reggie McDonald (Dennis Greene), who came to the door, and was confronted with wild gun pointing, violent threats if he didn't return home at 10:01 pm, and a quiz on whether he was a virgin or not.

In the memorably gruesome, disrespectful but funny morgue sequence, the two cops searched through various cut-open body cavities of bodies in search of concealed drugs. Voluptuous Jessica Karr (as "Female Corpse") was laid out on one of the cold slabs -- Marcus confessed to Mike that he couldn't help but innocently ogle the naked female's stiff chest ("What? I ain't doin' nothin'. What am I gonna do with these big-ass fake dead titties?"), and was then forced to hide under the sheet next to the well-endowed cadaver.

Pursuit of a Mortuary Van, With Bodies Falling Out of the Back of the Vehicle And Mutilated After Colliding With Cars

Mike and Marcus' pursuit of a Mortuary van, with bodies falling off onto the road, and colliding with other cars.

The DEA and Coast Guard raid on Tapia's Miami residence and the mortuary, and the successful infiltration and destruction of Tapia's Cuban mansion (with a rocket launcher) where he had taken Syd as his kidnapped hostage - she was rescued.

The final pursuit of Mike, Marcus, and the rescued Syd in a yellow Hummer, by Cuban military forces and Tapia, when they downhill plowed through an entire hillside village of metal sheds (housing cocaine labs), and ended up at Guantanamo Bay's US naval military base surrounded by a minfield.

Tapia's dramatic death scene - as he held a gun on Mike, Marcus shot him in the head (seen in closeup), and he fell backwards onto a mine and his body was gruesomely obliterated.

Kill Bill, Vol. 1 (2003)

Writer/director Quentin Tarantino's non-linear, blood-soaked, very violent action and grindhouse film (a revenge fantasy), contained numerous pop cultural references and stylized violence - it was another cinematic homage to the genres he loved most: kung-fu and martial arts (chopsocky) films, crime dramas, Japanese anime, B-movies, blaxploitation, Hong Kong action films, samurai sword epics and 'spaghetti' westerns.

The lengthy, entertaining film (for mostly male viewers, although most of the main characters were female!) was spliced into two parts, chock full of humorous wit (although with minimal dialogue), fight scenes, spurting blood, and a 10-minute anime sequence (to review the backstory of O-Ren Ishii's rise within the Tokyo underworld).

The main character was an action heroine or warrior goddess - an assassinatrix (or hit-woman):

  • Beatrix "the Bride" Kiddo (Uma Thurman) (aka code name Black Mamba), a vengeful assassinatrix in a group known as the Deadly Vipers, led by her boss and lover Bill (David Carradine)

The short opening scene in Vol. 1 was deliberately very violent and enigmatic. [Note: The fuller version of the opening scene was revisited in the opening scene of Vol. 2 - see below.] At a wedding, The Bride (with a bridal veil) was viewed with a very cut, bruised, bloody and sweaty face, lying face up on a chapel floor and gasping for air as she heard approaching footsteps (boots viewed in close-up). An unidentified male voice asked: "Do you find me sadistic?" and then the man wiped the Bride's face with his "Bill"-monogrammed white handkerchief. He observed: "I bet I could fry an egg on your head right now. If I wanted to." Bill reminded her that there was nothing "sadistic" in his actions, but that he felt more masochistic. When the seriously-wounded Bride informed Bill that he was the father of her unborn child, "Bill, it's your baby," she was apparently blasted by a gunshot that sprayed blood splatter onto the floor next to the Bride's head.

To the background tune of "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" (lyrics and music by Sonny Bono and sung by Nancy Sinatra), the opening credits listed that there was a Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, composed of five members.

  1. Vernita Green (code name Copperhead) (Vivica A. Fox), alias Jeannie Bell, a suburban homemaker and mother
  2. O-Ren Ishii (code name Cottonmouth) (Lucy Liu), leader of the Japanese Yakuza, who was being financed by Bill
  3. Budd (code name Sidewinder) (Michael Madsen), Bill's brother, a strip-club bouncer in Barstow, CA
  4. Elle Driver (code name California Mountain Snake) (Daryl Hannah), wearing an eye patch
  5. Bill (David Carradine), the leader of the DiVAS squad

A silhouette of a body seen from a side view provided the backdrop for the remainder of the opening credits. The Bride's pursuit for revenge against the first person on the list, Vernita Green, came immediately after the brief opening credits.

The Bride's first target was suburban housewife Vernita Green / Copperhead (Vivica A. Fox), where they fought in the living room and kitchen of her Pasadena, CA home. In the midst of their fight-to-the-death with punches and kicks and a struggle with a fire poker and large knives, Green's young 4 year-old daughter Nikkia (Ambrosia Kelley) arrived home from school. After Nikki was told to go upstairs, the Bride described her vengeance: "You and I have unfinished business. And not a goddamned f--king thing you've done in the subsequent four years, including getting knocked up, is going to change that."

When Vernita attempted to trick the Bride and shoot her with a concealed handgun through a box of KABOOM breakfast cereal, the Bride retaliated for the betrayal and hurled a knife into her chest, and she died on the floor. As the Bride wiped blood from the blade, she turned and saw the young daughter approach, and explained that it wasn't her intention to openly kill the child's mother:

"It's not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it. Your mother had it coming. When you grow up, if you still feel raw about it, I'll be waiting."

Her next target was O-Ren Ishii / Cottonmouth (Lucy Liu), a sword-wielding Yakuza leader in Tokyo, Japan. [Note: An anime film surveyed the development of the vengeful O'Ren's rise to leadership of the Yakuza, after at a young age she had witnessed the murder of her parents.] First, the Bride visited Okinawa, Japan, to acquire a forged sword from legendary, retired master swordsmith Hattori Hanzō (Sonny Chiba). At the House of Blue Leaves restaurant-nightclub, O'Ren's club, she fought against O'Ren's French-Japanese lawyer-assistant Sofie Fatale (Julie Dreyfus) (who had formerly worked for Bill), and amputated her left arm. (Later, she spared Sofie's life so that she could live to tell the tale to Bill.)

Then she had to engage in a duel against O-Ren's psychotic, sadistic, mace and chain-swinging 17 year-old schoolgirl-uniformed bodyguard assassin, Go Go Yubari (Chiaki Kuriyama), and defeated her by impaling her in the head with embedded nails from a broken table leg. Then, she had to bloodily defeat O'Ren's entire army of elite, black-suited Yakuzas (the Crazy 88 fighters) led by Johnny Mo (Gordon Liu), who was cut in half.

The Bride Against Army of Yakuzas

In a choreographed combat set in the snowy garden of the restaurant, the Bride was finally able to challenge O-Ren Ishii to a test of deathblows: "Attack me with everything you have." Blood dripped down O-Ren Ishii's foot after she was wounded in the leg during their first volley, and she apologized to the Bride: O-Ren Ishii: "For ridiculing you earlier, I apologize." The Bride: "Accepted. (pause) Ready?" O-Ren Ishii: "Come on."

After a quick flurry of additional sword clashes between the two females, there was: a swash of blood across the snow, a view of a scalp with long black hair flying through snowflakes in the air and landing in the snow, a closeup of a dropped samurai sword, and another closeup of the face of O-Ren Ishii. The defeated warrior repeated the name of the legendary sword that had just killed her - Hattori Hanzo: "That really was a Hattori Hanzo sword." As she was dying, the camera slowly pulled back and slightly panned up her face to reveal the top of her flattened, neatly-sliced open head. From a rear view, she sank to her knees, and slowly collapsed dead to her right.

The cliffhanger to Vol. 1 was news from Bill to Sofie in the hospital that the Bride's daughter was alive. The Bride's blood-soaked quest for vengeance ended for the time being - see Vol. 2 below..

Kill Bill, Vol. 2 (2004)

In this sequel, following after Kill Bill, Vol. 1 (2003) in the previous year, the film opened with the same brief opening from the earlier film.

In the Bride's / Beatrix Kiddo's (Uma Thurman) opening voice-over, she described how she hadn't died from Bill's last gun-shot at the wedding chapel. She had been ambushed 4 years earlier at the Massacre of Two Pines during a wedding dress rehearsal, when she was bloodied on the floor and told her assassin and lover Bill (David Carradine): "Bill, it's your baby." He put her into a coma for 4 years before she awakened, to continue her vengeful killing spree.

"Looked dead, didn't I? Well, I wasn't. But it wasn't from lack of trying, I can tell you that. Actually, Bill's last bullet put me in a coma - a coma I was to lie in for four years. When I woke up, I went on what the movie advertisements refer to as 'a roaring rampage of revenge.' I roared, and I rampaged, and I got bloody satisfaction. I've killed a hell of a lot of people to get to this point, but I've only one more. The last one. The one I'm driving to right now."

In her non-linear description, if she was on her way to her final vengeful killing (of all 5 members of the Viper Squad), she had just done away with Elle Driver, and only had one other individual to kill - Bill.

However, she first reviewed the events of the day when she was shot and others were massacred at the church. In the opening scene of Kill Bill, Vol. 2, the very pregnant Bride (in "a delicate condition") was in the Two Pines Wedding Chapel in El Paso, TX chapel for a "dress rehearsal" wedding day, seated next to her fiancee - Tommy Plympton (Christopher Allen Nelson), a used record store owner in town.

When the Bride excused herself for fresh air and retreated to the outdoor porch, she glimpsed Bill - who greeted her simply: "Hello, Kiddo." She asked: "How did you find me?...What are you doing here?" She described how she had made a decision to leave the killing life of an assassinatrix with Bill, and to drop out of the Vipers and became engaged to be married to Tommy and raise a family, after convincing him he was the father (although she knew Bill had fathered her unborn child).

Bill Pretending to Be the Bride's Father

Four Viper Assassins Enter the Chapel

The Bride: "Bill, it's your baby."

The jealous and vengeful Bill (who pretended to be the Bride's father during the ceremony) had ordered an attack on the chapel by four members of the DiVAS (the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad - an elite group led by Bill that the Bride had belonged to). They entered the back of the chapel and machine-gunned the participants. It became known as the Massacre at Two Pines, with eight dead bodies. The groom and all members of the bridal party were assumed murdered. The Bride (and her unborn child) were still barely alive, as Bill approached. Seriously wounded and punched to the floor, the Bride informed Bill that he was the father of her unborn child before passing out (and being shot in the head by Bill?).

However, The Bride was not dead, but remained in a 4-year comatose condition in a hospital (where she was repeatedly raped and violated). She was also threatened by lethal injection from one of the Vipers, Elle Driver (Darryl Hannah), Bill's lover, but he called it off by phone because she was defenseless.

Once she revived and was no longer pregnant, she assumed she had lost her unborn child. She vowed to seek killing revenge against the five perpetrators (her former assassin partners each with snake code-names, now arch-enemies), driving a stolen yellow and red pick-up truck marked "Pussy Wagon" and wearing a yellow motocross-style jacket (with black stripes) and leggings. She systematically went after those who had wronged her.

In this sequel, the Bride's third target was Bill's younger redneck, alcoholic brother and strip-club bouncer Budd (Michael Madsen), who lived in recreational vehicle trailer. Bill arrived to warn Budd about the Bride's vicious revenge and deadly pursuit: ("She is coming, and she is coming to kill you. And unless you accept my assistance, I have no doubt she will succeed").

Budd was unperturbed, and responded that maybe the Bride deserved to kill them ("That woman deserves her revenge. And we deserve to die. But then again, so does she. So, I guess we'll just see, won't we?"). He also told an annoyed Bill that he had "hocked" his gift of a "priceless" rusty samurai sword for $250 dollars in El Paso, TX.

Flashback to Beatrix's Martial Arts Training Under Pai Mei (Gordon Liu)

In Beatrix' back-story seen in flashback, she trained in China under Bill's kung-fu martial arts legend and traditionalist master Pai Mei (Gordon Liu), who was possibly 1,000 years old. The strict and disciplined master reluctantly began to train young Beatrix and often despised or criticized her for many things, including her gender, her ethnicity, her language skills, and her amateurish ability to fight. However, she was instructed on how to punch through a piece of wood, and was the only one to be taught a super-secret lethal technique known as the 'five-point-palm-exploding-heart technique' - important plot points for later.

Budd was anticipating the Bride's attack after being warned by Bill, and aimed his shotgun full of non-lethal rock salt at her chest when she assaulted him. He then injected her with a sedating tranquilizer in the buttocks before burying her alive in a local cemetery in the empty grave of Paula Schultz. He stole the Bride's valuable Hattori Hanzō sword - and called Viper Squad member Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah) to offer the "brand spankin' new Hattori Hanzo sword" for sale. Elle promised to be there the next day with the money, and added her wishes for the Bride: "She must suffer to her last breath."

Meanwhile, the Bride miraculously escaped from the coffin by remembering being trained by martial arts master Pai Mei as a young girl with a "punch" technique through thick solid wood. She broke out of the coffin and crawled her way through the dirt to the surface, and then determinedly walked to an empty cafe where she asked the astonished waiter: "May I have a glass of water, please."

She was aided in her quest for revenge when on her way back to Budd's trailer the next day, she watched the arrival of one-eyed, patch-wearing Elle Driver with a red suitcase containing $1 million. She had been invited there to exchange the money for the Bride's Hattori Hanzo samurai sword. But then Elle double-crossed him by placing a Black Mamba snake in the case. When Budd opened the case, the deadly venomous creature bit him in the face and he died within 20 minutes due to asphyxiation. As Budd died on the floor, Elle used her hand-written notes to describe in detail how she had searched on the Internet for a way to quickly and efficiently kill him:

"...a bite to the face or torso can bring death from paralysis within 20 minutes.' Now, you should listen to this, 'cause this concerns you. 'The amount of venom that can be delivered from a single bite can be gargantuan.' You know, I've always liked that word, "gargantuan"... you so rarely have an opportunity to use it in a sentence. 'If not treated quickly with anti-venom, ten to fifteen milligrams can be fatal to human beings. However, the black mamba can deliver as much as 100 to 400 milligrams of venom from a single bite.'"

After Budd's death, Elle stole the Bride's sword and the money, and dishonestly lied to Bill by phone about how the Bride (now using her real name Beatrix) had planted the deadly mamba in the trailer before she (Elle) killed her. [Note: Ironically, 'Black Mamba' was Beatrix's code name.]

In a surprise ambush attack, Elle was confronted by Beatrix, and they began to viciously fight together - each with swords (Budd had earlier lied about pawning off Bill's gift of a priceless samurai sword for $250). During their struggle, Elle admitted that after Pai Mei had plucked out one of her eyes, she sought lethal revenge by poisoning his food. Beatrix plucked out Elle's second eye, and her detached and bloody right eyeball was dropped to the floor, then squished under the Bride's bare and grungy right foot, and ground into the carpet. Elle was left to die (presumably) flailing around in the trailer with the deadly Mamba.

Finally, Beatrix sought to kill Bill, her fifth and final target. In Mexico, she received information about Bill's whereabouts in a villa from retired pimp, Esteban Vihaio (Michael Parks). She located Bill and was shocked to meet their four year old daughter B.B. (Perla Haney-Jardine), who was playing shoot-em-up with Bill.

Beatrix Shocked To See Her Daughter For the First Time

BB (Perla Haney-Jardine) - Their 4 Year Old Daughter

During a peaceful evening together, Bill confessed his 'overreacting' reason for shooting and nearly killing the Bride - he felt abandoned and jealously enraged when she became pregnant and was engaged to another "f--king jerk" fiancee: ("I'm a killer. I'm a murdering bastard, you know that. And there are consequences to breaking the heart of a murdering bastard"). Beatrix was able to put BB to bed. Then outside during another truth-telling sequence, Beatrix explained that she had left Bill because she didn't want her unborn child to grow up and become mixed up with assassins.

During a brief sword fight instigated by Bill, Beatrix was able to deliver fatal blows to Bill's chest and heart, using "the five point palm-exploding heart technique" that she admitted had been taught to her by her martial arts master Pai Mei, but she hadn't informed Bill about it because she was "a bad person." After she applied the forceful blow to his chest, he offered his killer a respectful and calm goodbye:

"You're not a bad person. You're a terrific person. You're my favorite person, but every once in a while, you can be a real c--t." (She painfully giggled)

When he asked: "How do I look?", she paused and then answered: "You look ready." He stood up, buttoned his jacket, slowly walked away about five steps into the backyard, collapsed on the grass, and died. She was finally reunited with her daughter: "The lioness has rejoined her cub, and all is right in the jungle."

Hostel (2005)

Also, see Hostel, Part II (2007) below, and Hostel, Part III (2011)

[Note: Hostel (2005) was followed by a sequel, Hostel: Part II (2007) in which the tables were turned -- the terrorized victims were now three American college-aged females in the same predicament who were betrayed by another Slovakian - a beautiful and statuesque nude model. A third film was Hostel: Part III (2011), a direct-to-DVD release.]

Writer/director Eli Roth's bloody, unpleasant, grisly torture-gore horror film was reported to be "inspired by true events." It was mostly viewed by hardcore males. The film was soundly condemned for its visceral excesses, and the detailed torture, dismemberment and mutilation suffered by a group of hedonistic American backpackers in Eastern Europe. They were subjected to debased, medically-graphic, physical, sexual and mental torture.

The uncompromising film began with hedonistic, promiscuous promise for three backpacking college-aged students who ventured to Eastern Europe and a remote Slovakian city for good times, hedonistic sex and drugs:

  • Paxton (Jay Hernandez), American
  • Josh (Derek Richardson), American
  • Oli (Eythor Gudjonsson), Icelandic

The three were first in Amsterdam where they found sex in a brothel. After a tip from a Russian man named Alexei (Lubomir Bukovy), they then ventured to a Slovakian city by train - and on the way met a suspicious and strange Dutch businessman (Jan Vlasak). In Prague, they checked into the hostel known for debauchery. Almost immediately, they found relaxation and sex (filmed with gratuitous nudity) in the hostel and spa with two Eastern European beauties - the ultimate male fantasy of casual sex with two sexually aggressive girls:

  • Natalya (Barbara Nedeljakova), a giggly brunette and Russian beauty
  • Svetlana (Jana Kaderabkova), a Czech blonde

Both aggressively mounted their dates and enticed them to trust them. The two amoral femme fatales would later entrap them. They were lured to become victims of wealthy, sadistic patrons who wished to torture unsuspecting tourists with their "darkest, sickest fantasies."

After the two Americans feared that Oli had met a grisly demise (decapitation), they discovered that they also had been drugged with a tranquilizer - and lured to become victims of wealthy, sadistic patrons who wished to torture unsuspecting tourists with their "darkest, sickest fantasies."

A fiendish plot (named Elite Hunting Club) was uncovered in an abandoned, run-down factory warehouse where the sadistic Dutch businessman, a German torturer named Johan (Petr Janiš), and another American client (Rick Hoffman) had paid large sums of money for the exciting opportunity to torture, dismember and/or kill foreigners who had been lured into the 'hostel' trap.

Josh's Torture, Including Drilling and Tendon Slashing

Josh was tortured to death by the Dutch businessman - he was strapped to a chair in his underwear and handcuffed, where he underwent severe torture, including a power drill used to insert holes into his chest (seen in close-up) - and the victim's twitching chained feet were shown; severing of his ankle's Achilles' tendon; then his neck was slashed as he crawled to the door; his corpse was then dissected by the sadistic wanna-be surgeon.

Meanwhile, Paxton was tortured by the German man named Johan: he was captured, gagged and strapped to a chair, and terrorized by a chainsaw, causing him to vomit and pee in his pants; after two of his fingers were excised, the torturer slipped and accidentally chain-sawed off his own leg; Paxton was eventually able to partially free himself and shoot the torturer in the head.

Paxton also shot a guard lured to his cell and then escaped inside the warehouse facility by hiding in a pile of bloody corpses moved from one area to another. He killed the blood-stained, hunchbacked crematorium attendant (Josef Bradna) in the butcher room (who was dismembering bodies) by knocking him on the head with a large hammer. He took an elevator to the upper level and then changed into regular business clothes in the dressing room, where he discovered the Elite Hunting Club's business card in a pocket. In a chilling moment, the back of the card displayed what the price was for torturing/killing each victim - a Russian, a European, and an American.

As Paxton was stealing a car outside, he heard screaming and discovered that a Japanese backpacker Kana (Jennifer Lim) was being badly mutilated - she suffered eye burning with an acetylene blow-torch by the American client. As they both escaped and fled in a stolen car, pursued by guards, Paxton ran over both Natalya and Svetlana during their flight - a very cathartic ending for the audience. Natalya was instantly killed, while Svetlana survived the first crash, only to be hit a second time (and pulverized) by a car pursuing Paxton. However, it wasn't over yet. At a train station, Kana jumped in front of a train to commit suicide (spraying her blood onto two bystanders), after realizing how disfigured her face was in a reflection. The chaos caused by her death allowed Paxton to escape on the train bound for Austria.

In the film's satisfying ending, Paxton sought murderous revenge in a Vienna train station's restroom stall upon the sadistic Dutch businessman who had killed Josh. He first tossed the Elite Hunting Club business card under the bathroom stall, and then used a small knife to sever two fingers. Finally, he dunked the man's head into the toilet after slitting the man's throat.

"I've been all over the world. You know, I've been everywhere and the bottom line is: P---y is p---y. You know, every strip club, every whore house, every... It's all the same s--t. You know, I just f--ked a girl two days ago and I don't even remember the color of her tits. But this... This is something you never forget, right? Right?"

Sin City (2005)

Also the sequel: Sin City: A Dame To Kill For (2014)

Director Robert Rodriguez' violent, carnage-filled film (with cannibalism, dismemberment, mutilation, castration and more!) was a bloody and ultra-stylistic noirish monochromatic (with splashes of color) - a noirish representation of Frank Miller's graphic, comic-book novels with three overlapping, cross-cut hard-boiled stories set in dark, corrupted and rain-slick Basin City.

In the film's pre-credits opening ("The Customer is Always Right"), a doomed, suicidal red dress-wearing dame known as Customer (Marley Shelton) stood on a terrace high above the cold, teeming city - to be kissed and then killed by The Man/Salesman (Josh Hartnett), whom she had supposedly hired as a hit man; after killing her with a silencer-gun, he mentioned that he would cash her check in the morning.

In the next tale "That Yellow Bastard" (the first of two parts), disgraced, heart-failing retiring -cop John Hartigan (Bruce Willis) saved young 11 year-old Nancy Callahan (Makenzie Vega as youth, Jessica Alba as adult) from depraved serial-killing pedophile Roark Jr.'s (Nick Stahl) rape and murder at the docks; Junior was one of Basin City's protected criminals - the son of Senator Roark (Powers Boothe).

In the second part of the story (much later in the film), after a deadly shoot-out between Hartigan and Roark, Jr., Hartigan was put on trial by Senator Roark and framed for Junior's crimes; he was put in jail and solitary confinement for 8 years. After his parole release, Hartigan relocated Nancy, now 19 years old, and was stunned to learn that she was performing as an exotic stripper (in a cowgirl outfit) in Kadie's Bar. He realized that it was a trap - he had been released to lead the forces of evil to Nancy; he was then pursued by the deformed, smelly and disfigured Roark, Jr., now known as Yellow Bastard. Again, Hartigan protected Nancy from the Yellow Bastard and brutally killed him (first by stabbing and then ripping off his genitals), but then suicidally took his own life to ensure Nancy's future safety.

In another storyline known as "The Hard Goodbye," tough ex-con, thuggish, Frankenstein-like street fighter Marv (Mickey Rourke) sought revenge against psycho-serial killer Kevin (Elijah Wood) for the Roark-instigated murder of his blonde hooker-lover Goldie (Jaime King); after having sex and sleeping with her in a red heart-shaped bed, he awoke to find her dead; Marv was set up and framed for the crime.

Marv (Mickey Rourke)

Kevin (Elijah Wood)

Wendy (Jaime King) - Goldie's Twin Sister

He met with Lucille (Carla Gugino), his lesbian parole officer, who was abruptly awakened from bed, topless, and brandished her gun at him, and strutted around wearing a brief thong; he told her he was in pursuit of the one responsible for Goldie's death. He told her he was in pursuit of the one responsible for Goldie's death; he discovered that the person behind the crime was powerful Cardinal Patrick Henry Roark (Rutger Hauer), the brother of Senator Roark. (Lucille was also preyed upon by Kevin, and eventually lost her life when gunned down by police).

Marv went after silent, creepy, cannibalistic serial killer Kevin - who had decapitated many other Basin City prostitutes; after Marv's fight to the death with Kevin, as he urged: "Is that the best you can do, creep?", Marv tortured and dismembered Kevin, and then propped him up against a tree, after his arms and legs were sawed off and tied off with rubber tubing tourniquets. Kevin was then devoured by a meat-eating wolf (Kevin's own pet wolf). Afterwards, the exasperated Marv cut Kevin's head off with a saw - and stood there with the decapitated head in his left hand.

Marv also killed Cardinal Roark - the Senator's brother and the one responsible for Goldie's murder. In the bleak ending, Marv accepted his death sentence by execution in the electric chair for the murders of Kevin and Cardinal Roark (and for all their crimes as well). Before his death, Goldie's twin sister Wendy (also Jaime King) thanked Marv for avenging Goldie's death.

A third tale ("The Big Fat Kill") was about Sin City photographer and PI Dwight McCarthy (Clive Owen) who angered abusive Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro) - because he had begun dating Jackie Boy's girlfriend Shellie (Brittany Murphy); the prostitutes in Old Town were led by Dwight's sometime-lover Gail (Rosario Dawson), where Dwight followed and watched as Jackie Boy began threatening one of the other prostitutes named Becky (Alexis Bledel); leather-clad dominatrix, vigilante leader Gail with an Uzi machine-gun was in a turf war with the streetwalkers against corrupt cops, one of whom was abusive Jackie Boy.

Silent female martial arts expert Miho (Devon Aoki), one of Old Town's prostitute defenders and protectors along with Gail, also had been battling against Jackie Boy; Jackie Boy ended up dead from his own backfiring gun; Dwight discovered that Jackie Boy was actually Det. Lt. "Iron Jack" Rafferty, a Basin City police officer; if it was learned that the cop had been killed in Old Town, war would be waged on the prostitutes by the mob and Irish mercenaries.

Meanwhile, the traitorous Becky had sold out Old Town by betraying the prostitutes to the mob after the killing of Jackie Boy, for money and to ensure her mother's safety from the mob. Gail was kidnapped by mob enforcer Manute (Michael Clarke Duncan) and held for ransom before an all-out assault and gun battle; Dwight was able to intervene and free Gail and kill Manute, while the other prostitutes gunned down the remaining mob-mercenaries, as the injured Becky fled; in the short finale, Becky was confronted by the hit-man Salesman in a hospital elevator - she was about to be assassinated for betraying the prostitutes.

Each of the three main characters died for unselfish reasons: (1) Hartigan to protect Nancy, (2) Marv to avenge Goldie's murder, and to protect Wendy and other prostitutes, and (3) Becky to protect her mother from the mob.

The scene of Marv's description of Kevin's death: "He doesn't scream, not even when the mutt's had its fill and the killer's guts are lyin' all over the place - somehow the bastard is still alive, still starin' at me, not even when I grabbed the saw and finished the job."

Casino Royale (2006)

This 21st film was a successful reboot (and origin story) of the series following four Brosnan Bond films (from 1995-2002). The opening sequence was filmed in B/W, with a flashback to Bond's brutal first kills. This was the first film with Daniel Craig as a grittier, vicious and meaner Bond. He reprised Honey Ryder's (Ursula Andress) rise from the ocean in Dr. No (1962) in a skimpy bathing suit. It was one of the longest Bond films, at 144 minutes, without campy elements, cute gadgets, and silly jokes.

In one of the film's earliest and most spectacular scenes set in the African-island nation of Madagascar, Bond - on his first mission as a '00' agent - was tracking a scar-faced, freelance terrorist bomb-maker named Mollaka (Sebastien Foucan), a parkour ("free runner"), and engaged in a long foot chase and pursuit sequence through jungle and into an ocean-side construction site after Mollaka - they both scaled steel girders high in the sky, and cables on towering cranes as they fought precariously before jumping to the ground and free-running through other buildings under construction. The chase ended at the Nambutu Embassy where Bond was cornered and surrounded by armed troops, but was able to kill Mollaka, and caused a massive explosion to cover his escape.

It appeared that the funding for the world's terrorists and their organizations was being conducted by scheming financier and banker ("a private banker to the world's terrorists") - a cold and calculating Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) (with a bleeding cut over and through his left eye). Bond tracked Mollaka's contact to the Bahamas (Paradise Island, the Ocean Club), and there after renting a beachfront villa, he identified Le Chiffre on his yacht, and one of his associates - "middleman" Alex Dimitrios (Simon Abkarian). It was learned that Le Chiffre had acquired significant losses for his clients (a guerrilla group in Uganda) and needed to recoup $101 million in lost investments he had made of terrorists' funds, due to a poor investment choice to short-sell Skyfleet stock (a passenger aircraft manufacturer). Bond trailed Mollaka's replacement to the Miami Airport and blocked attempts to destroy one of Skyfleet's airplanes, further ruining Le Chiffre's plans.

Bond's objective was to thwart and frustrate Le Chiffre's desire to recoup his losses. He had set up a high-stakes poker tournament/game of Hold 'Em at the Casino Royale in Montenegro located in SE Europe ("Ten players, $10 million dollar buy-in, $5 million rebuy. Winner takes all, potentially $150 million"). Le Chiffre's desire was to recoup his debts and losses through gambling at the tournament at the Casino Royale. Bond's goal was to bankrupt Le Chiffre, capture him alive, and provide him with sanctuary in exchange for providing information to MI6.

On a train to Montenegro, Bond was paired up with HM Treasury Financial Action Task Force liaison officer Vesper Lynd (Eva Green). Her name was a play on 'West Berlin.' She was an intelligent, feisty, raven-haired, green-eyed beauty. In Montenegro, their cover story was that Vesper was to masquerade as Bond's love interest (Stephanie Broadchest) at the Hotel Splendid in a shared two-bedroom suite. Bond posed as Arlington Beech, a professional gambler. After much subterfuge behind the scenes, Le Chiffre was finally defeated when there was $115 million in the pot, and his full-house hand (of Aces and sixes) was below Bond's straight flush (of four to the eight of spades).

After the game, Le Chiffre retaliated by kidnapping Vesper and after his pursuit in a car and a crash, Bond was also taken prisoner. Bond was stripped naked and forced to sit on a cane chair with its bottom cut out. Sadistically, Le Chiffre used a swinging, thick knotted rope to painfully torture and whip Bond's genitals, to pressure him into revealing his account password so that he could regain his lost winnings ("I want the money"). Bond was saved when Mr. White entered and shot Le Chiffre in the forehead.

Afterwards on a holiday with Vesper in Venice, Italy, Bond confessed his love for Vesper and considered resigning, but then realized that Vesper had appeared to double-cross him. During Bond's attempt to stop the transfer of money, the double-crossing Vesper had deliberately locked herself in a cage-elevator in an old building being renovated, and drowned when flotation devices were ruptured and the building sank. She knew that her betrayal and treachery couldn't be excused, and she kissed Bond's hand to remove the guilt associated with her inevitable death. Mr. White left the scene with a briefcase holding $120 million. .

In the tragic conclusion, Bond learned from M that Vesper was attempting to pay off Le Chiffre's associates with the money, to allow her kidnapped French-Algerian boyfriend to be released by them. He discovered that Vesper had actually tried to save him, by leaving behind her cellphone with a clue - the identity of the blackmailer Mr. White. She had actually revealed the identity of the treacherous mastermind (behind the plot to fund terrorism). M hypothesized that Vesper had made a deal to spare Bond's life in exchange for the money. In the final scene, Bond traced and pursued Mr. White to his estate in the Lake Como area, and shot him in the leg..

"Do I look like I give a damn?" (Bond's response after being asked if he would like his vodka martini shaken or stirred)

"Now the whole world's gonna know that you died scratching my balls!"

The parkour foot chase between Bond and a bombmaker, beginning on a crane in Madagascar and proceeding through a slum and ending with a shootout at the Nambutu Embassy.

The obvious reference to Ursula Andress' entrance in Dr. No (1962), with Bond emerging from Bahama's waters in skimpy bikini briefs.

The exciting, suspenseful showdown in the poker game sequence.

Bond's naked torture in a chair by whipping his genitals with a knotted rope.

The concluding thrilling gunfight and escape from a collapsing (or sinking) building in Venice rigged with explosives, ending with Vesper Lynd's death.

Crank (2006)

Also the sequel, Crank: High Voltage (2009) (aka Crank 2)

This non-stop, urban action thriller was a foul-mouthed R-rated film from the directing duo of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. The title referred to the slang term for the powdered stimulant known as methamphetamine.

The film's main character was professional British hitman Chev Chelios (Jason Stratham) who worked for Mexican-American crime syndicate boss Don "Carlito" Carlos (Carlos Sanz) in Los Angeles. He had been injected - by his small-time rival gangster/hitman Ricky Verona (Jose Pablo Cantillo) who was conspiring with Carlito - with a Chinese synthetic drug or poison ("Beijing Cocktail") that was designed to slow the adrenaline flow in his body. The premise of the film was that the poison-injected Chev had to keep his adrenaline levels accelerated at all times in order to survive, or inject himself with artificial adrenaline such as epinephrine.

While seeking revenge against Verona, Chev proposed making public love to his astonished and initially-resistant girlfriend Eve Lydon (Amy Smart) on the pavement of a crowded Chinatown street in Los Angeles (in front of a crowd of onlookers), in order to keep his heart pumping ("Save my life!"). When she agreed, he forcibly placed her over a newspaper vending machine and took her from behind while crying: "I'm alive!"

In the gripping conclusion set on a rooftop in a meeting with Carlito, Verona, and other henchmen, Chev was promised a fake antidote. After a violent shootout, Carlito was killed by Verona who then attempted to flee in Carlito's helicopter. Both Chev and Verona grappled in flight in the helicopter before they both were propelled into the air above Los Angeles. After Chev broke Verona's neck during the fall and floated away from him, incredibly he had just enough time to reach for his cellphone and call his girlfriend Eve's answering machine. He told her apologetically in the film's last lines that he was sorry for breaking his promise to come back (see quote below).

In the next instant, his body smashed into the top of a car moving through an intersection, and he bounced high up into the air. A moment later, his face (and body off-camera) smacked into the pavement, close to the camera in the middle of an intersection - but he survived (tell-tale signs of life - his nostrils flared, he blinked, and two heartbeats were heard).

During a high-speed car chase sequence, Eve delivered oral sex (off-screen) to Chev as he was driving and combating rivals, to keep him revived.

300 (2006)

Also sequel, 300: Rise of an Empire (2014)

The title of director Zack Snyder's very original, highly-stylized, comic-bookish, computer-generated war drama (with elements of fantasy) referred to the 300 Spartans who fought to the death at the three-day Battle of Thermopylae. The epic film was based on Frank Miller's 1998 comic book novel - and was a shot-by-shot adaptation of the comic-book panels. With three beheadings and lots of blood-letting (with 2-D blood), the film earned an R-rating.

The story was narrated by the Spartan warrior/storyteller Dilios (David Wenham) - he told about legendary and fearless Spartan ruler-warrior King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) who fought an heroic last stand with his Greek forces when overwhelmed at the Battle of Thermopylae, c. 480 B.C., leading 300 brave, incredibly-buffed, all-volunteer Spartan warriors (seeking a "beautiful death") against thousands of invading Persian soldiers, commanded by the giant Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro).

The Battle

Except for the character of King Leonidas' wife Queen Gorgo (Lena Headey), the violent action film was heavy on testosterone and barbaric, tough-guy scenes of battle, with the warriors in metal helmets and red capes, and wielding shields and swords.

The film's climax was the momentous scene of the moving, spiritual operatic ballet of death of King Leonidas of Sparta on the battlefield during the three-day long battle - he was the last survivor of the 300 Spartans, who had refused to surrender. He called out in his final breath to his wife Queen Gorgo (Lena Headey), pledging his love to her: "My Queen! My wife. My love..." He raised his arms to the side, as he was assailed by hundreds of arrows that blackened the screen with the sheer number of projectiles.

Arrows Targeting King Leonidas Blackened the Screen

The next scene opened on the beautiful, sad face of his wife, receiving the news of her husband's death.

"It is not a question of what a Spartan citizen should do, nor a husband, nor a king. Instead, ask yourself, my dearest love, what should a free man do?"

"Spartans! Ready your breakfast and eat hearty... for tonight, we dine in hell!"

"Give thanks, men, to Leonidas and the brave 300. TO VICTORY!"

Grindhouse (Planet Terror) (2007)

Grindhouse was comprised of two full length feature horror movies:

  • Planet Terror - written and directed by Robert Rodriguez, a sci-fi zombie horror film
  • Death Proof - written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, a chase film (SEE BELOW)

This unsubtle, action-filled cult film was billed as an exploitation double feature created to provide nostalgic homage to cheaply-made 70s B-movie drive-in flicks (such as sexploitation, women in prison films, or blaxploitation). It included gimmicks such as trailers (Prevues of Coming Attractions) for non-existent B-movies (Machete starring Danny Trejo that became a film in 2010), and inserts about "MISSING REELS." Both films were awash with elements that male fanboys enjoyed: nudity, swearing, custom motorcycles and hotrods, go-go dancing, zombies, crazed baby-sitter twins, car chases, bloody gore, decapitation, badgirls and badasses (Tarantino played the part of a rapist), and much more.

Under the title credits in Rodriguez' gross-out film Planet Terror, aspiring standup comedian and go-go dancer Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan) cried after her number, and decided to quit her low-income job. She middle-fingered her boss Skip (Skip Reissig) as she left the club, but outside was nearly run over by a military caravan.

In the next sequence, desperate smuggler and chemical engineer Abby (Naveen Andrews) was confronted by corrupt and demented Lt. Muldoon (Bruce Willis) from a rogue military unit asking "Where's the s--t?" - he was demanding a deadly, airborne "Project Terror" biochemical agent known as DC2 (code-named Planet Terror). When Abby refused the transaction to turn over the 's--t,' and resisted being taken as a hostage, he unleashed the toxic chemical gas (a green mist) into the air of the rural Texas town. The gas instantly produced ravenous, cannibalistic zombies (with melting, gooey faces), known as "sickos."

Tammy (Stacy Ferguson) - Dakota's Former Bisexual Lover

Cherry found herself at a rundown BBQ restaurant known as the Bone Shack owned by JT Hague (Jeff Fahey), where another woman named Tammy (Stacy Ferguson), later learned to be Dakota's former bisexual lover, was having car trouble before leaving. At the restaurant, Cherry met up with her ex-boyfriend Wray (Freddy Rodriguez), a tow-truck operator-mechanic who had mysteriously returned to town after training as a military special agent.

At a nearby hospital, Dr. William Block (Josh Brolin) and his promiscuous, unhappy, bisexual anesthesiologist wife Dr. Dakota Block (Marley Shelton) were treating patients who were arriving with unusual symptoms, including a man named Joe (Nicky Katt) with an infected tongue and other sores that were spreading on his body. The victim was prepped to have his arm amputated with three sedative-injections administered by Dakota (she called her needles her "friends").

Meanwhile, on the road, Tammy left her broken-down vehicle near a military base, and was hitchhiking to reunite with Dakota when she was viciously attacked by zombies. Together with Wray in his truck, he and Cherry witnessed the attack on Tammy (Wray thought it was "roadkill"), and were also randomly assaulted. Their truck crashed and several zombies tore off Cherry's right leg.

Cherry was driven to the hospital to have her leg amputated. At the hospital for reasons unexplained, JT's uptight brother Sheriff Hague (Michael Biehn) (and the owner of The Bone Shack) arrested Wray and took him to the police station. At the same time, Tammy's mutilated corpse arrived, and Dakota recognized her (she was her past lesbian lover) and began crying. To retaliate against his unfaithful wife, Dr. Block savagely attacked Dakota's hands with her own anesthetic syringe needles as revenge, rendering her hands useless.

Outside the Sheriff's office, his two deputies: Deputy Carlos (Carlos Gallardo) and Deputy Tolo (Tom Savini) were being assaulted by more sickos, and Carlos lost his life, while Tolo had a half-bitten finger and was partially wounded. In the hospital, more 'sickos' arrived and Joe infected Dr. Block. To escape from the besieged, zombie-infested hospital, Dakota jumped out a window, but then broke her left wrist attempting to open a car door with her numbed hands.

Wray arrived back at the hospital and with two butterfly-knives, attacked the many sickos in his path, and then rescued Cherry. When she complained that she couldn't walk and her life was ruined ("Look at me! I was gonna be a stand-up comedian! Who's gonna laugh now?"), he broke off a table leg and attached it to her severed limb so she could escape with him in his tow truck. They drove off to J.T.'s restaurant, the Bone Shack, where they again met up with Sheriff Hague. At J.T.'s house near the restaurant, Cherry and Wray consummated their love for each other in the bedroom.

Meanwhile, Dakota returned to her home to retrieve her son Tony (Rebel Rodriguez) from two Crazy Babysitter Twins (Electra Avellan and Elise Avellan). She drove them to the home of her father, local Texas Ranger Earl McGraw (Michael Parks). Dakota gave her young son Tony a loaded gun to protect himself in the locked car, but then in the film's most shocking scene, Tony shot himself to death (off-screen) - indicated by a flash of light. At the car, she was then confronted by her zombified husband Dr. Block threatening her with a syringe as he grabbed her hair. As other zombies approached, she was able to carry her dead son from the car into Earl's house, where he had just bloodily axed his cancer-stricken, 'sicko' zombie-wife to death.

As the film continued, the Bone Shack was being surrounded and set on fire, and Sheriff Hague had been accidentally shot in the neck by Deputy Tolo. The Sheriff ordered everyone to give their guns to 'El Wray'. Inside the restaurant were Dakota, Earl, Skip, and Tony's crazed babysitter twins. Deputy Tolo's body was torn apart by zombies who breached into the restaurant.

The entire group was able to evacuate from the burning Bone Shack, using Wray's tow truck, J.T.'s roofless 1950s convertible, J.T.'s chopper motorcycle, and Tony's mini-bike, and they drove toward the military base. Near the base, they were taken prisoner by Lt. Muldoon. They learned through Abby, another prisoner at the base, that Muldoon's platoon of soldiers were deliberately inhaling the gas in order to delay mutation into zombies. Cherry and Dakota were targeted - taken away to be victims of attempted rape by two of the military officers - (Quentin Tarantino credited as "Rapist #1" and Greg Kelly credited as "Rapist #2"). In an elevator, Rapist # 1 compared Cherry to actress Ava Gardner, and then taunted her with his gun pointed at her: "You know what this is?...It's simplicity itself: you see, you point it at what you wanta die, and you pull the little trigger here, and a little bullet comes outta here, and the little bullet hits you right there! And you know what? You don't look like Ava Gardner no more. Don't taunt me, tramp. I am not one to be taunted. You got it?"

"You know what this is?...It's simplicity itself..."

"You're a dancer?...Well, I'm pulling you out of retirement!"
Imprisoned in Army Base and Victimized by Rapist # 1 (Quentin Tarantino)

One of the more startling confessions was Lt. Muldoon's explanation to Wray and Abby that he had unexpectedly come upon America's enemy - and killed Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan ("I put two in his heart, one in his computer") before he and his men were deliberately infected with DC2 gas. That provided Lt. Muldoon's motivation to gas the entire Texas town, in order to find a cure amongst the survivors. But then, as Muldoon mutated (his face blistered and expanded), both Abby and Wray shot him dead.

Meanwhile, during Cherry's forced dance for Rapist # 1, she broke her wooden leg across his face and stabbed him in the right eye with the stump, leaving the splinters there. When he revived, he promised to give her some "wood" as he lowered his pants, but discovered his crotch melting to the floor. To save Cherry, Dakota (with restored feeling in her hands) grabbed a syringe launcher and shot a needle-dart into Rapist # 2's leg - she called her talent "Useless Talent #37" - and shot a second needle-dart into Rapist # 1's second eye. Wray and Abby arrived to rescue them - Abby shot Rapist # 2 dead.

After their rescue, Wray explained that he had made something for her broken wooden leg - as he attached a machine gun and grenade launcher to her leg stump: ("I made you something. I DO believe in you, always have. I believe you could be better. You deserve better, even better than me. Right now, I need you to become who you were meant to be. Stand!" As she rode on the back on his motorcycle during their escape, she used it to spray and slaughter-kill dozens of military officers and mutants.

In the military base complex, the group of survivors made their way to a transport helicopter. As Abby guided the way, he was unexpectedly killed by a projectile missile to the head. Cherry quipped, "I don't suppose there are any other biochemical engineers around?" Texas Ranger Earl killed infected Dr. Block (who again attempted to attack Dakota). The lethally-wounded Sheriff and J.T. sacrificed themselves and stayed behind to detonate explosives, as the others fled to the helicopter. Cherry went airborne and then landed to spin around and spray the perimeter with gunfire from her leg.

During the escape, Wray was fatally wounded protecting Cherry, and in their final words, she pledged that they would be "two against the world" - since she had been impregnated by him: ("I never miss"). The rotary blades of the chopper decapitated and sliced into the zombies as it took off.

In the film's epilogue one year later, as explained by Cherry (in voice-over), the group of survivors had escaped from the nightmarish scourge and had been led by her to the Caribbean beach at Tulum, Mexico, to start a new and peaceful society amidst a world-wide zombie infection. She had given birth to Wray's baby daughter.

In the Thanksgiving faux trailer, a topless and bottomless cheerleader (Vendula Bednarova) bouncing on a trampoline performed a split onto a sharp butcher knife.

Grindhouse (Death Proof) (2007)

Grindhouse was comprised of two full length feature horror movies:

  • Planet Terror - written by Robert Rodriguez, a sci-fi zombie horror film
  • Death Proof - written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, a chase film

In Tarantino's film Death Proof, Kurt Russell starred as psychopathic stalker "Stuntman Mike" who preyed upon pretty, scantily-clad, talkative women of Austin, Texas with his customized, black Dodge Challenger with a skull and crossbones.

In the Texas Chili Parlor after offering her a ride home, Mike picked up his first victim Pam (Rose McGowan) in his black 'death-proof' car. He knew that he wouldn't be scoring with her, since he heard her whisper to her friends: "I am not gonna f--k him. He’s old enough to be my Dad!” He put her into the passenger seat and assured her that the car was a very safe, reinforced stunt car. She sat on a removable stool, and was divided by a plexiglass barrier from the driver's seat. As they drove, she asked for him to turn right, rather than follow her friends who turned left. He began to immediately scare her, by explaining that she wasn't 100% protected: "Hey, Pam, remember when I said this car was death proof? Well, that wasn't a lie. This car is 100% death proof. Only to get the benefit of it, honey, you REALLY need to be sitting in my seat." He applied the brakes, sending her body into the dashboard, and causing lethal and severe facial damage (a broken nose and possibly brain damage).

Then, Mike pursued after a group of four girls (the driver Lanna (Monica Staggs) with DJ Jungle Julia (Sydney Tamiia Poitier) in the front seat, and Shanna (Jordan Ladd) and Arlene (Vanessa Ferlito) in the back seat), in a red vehicle. They were happily enjoying a tune by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich that Julia had requested to be played on the radio. Mike passed them at high speed, and then further down the road, he swerved his car around and shut off his lights, before proceeding to target the girls' car. In a very gruesome, gruesome, pre-meditated head-on car crash, each of the four girls died spectacularly gory deaths from the powerful collision. Lanna (broken neck from striking steering wheel), Julia (mangled body and dismembered right leg), Shanna (thrown from vehicle), Arlene (decapitated by tire).

In another sequence set 14 months later in Tennessee - the film's final stalking sequence and car chase, a group of young daredevil women (including Abernathy Ross (Rosario Dawson) and driver Kim Mathis (Tracie Thoms)) took a white, heavily-modified 1970 Dodge Challenger (the same vehicle from Vanishing Point (1971)) out for a test-drive. They feigned the test-drive so that stuntwoman Zoe "The Cat" Bell (Herself) could play a dangerous stunt game called "ship's mast" - in which she hung onto the car's hood, held on with only two belts strapped through the windshield, while Kim drove at high-speeds.

From a distance, psychopathic and deranged stuntman Mike saw them and pursued them in his souped-up 1969 Dodge Charger, and began to battle against them. He slammed into the back of their car and repeatedly tried to divert the car off the two-lane rural road, until continued rear-end collisions spun the white car around and sent Zoe flying off the hood (she was later found unharmed). Turning the tables on him, the females decided to follow after Mike in his car to seek revenge, and rammed into him, giving him some of his own medicine ("You don't like it up the ass, do ya, you redneck lunatic bastard!").

Following a long chase, they T-boned his car and caused it to flip multiple times, and Mike fractured his right arm in the crash. The girls pulled him, screaming in pain from the car and continued to mercilessly beat him - with repeated punches (and then a final roundhouse kick) to his face, before he fell down. THE END appeared as the women triumphed and cheered. After some brief credits, Abernathy dealt a crushing blow to Mike's neck with her boot.

Revenge Upon Mike - A Brutal Beating

Hostel, Part II (2007)

In this equally grisly and disturbing sequel by writer/director Eli Roth, another example of "violence porn," the tables were turned -- the victims were now three American college-aged females.

In the film's 10 minute prologue, the surviving, ill-fated Paxton Rodriguez (Jay Hernandez) from the first film was hospitalized in Europe and questioned about his experiences in Slovakia a week earlier, where he had survived and escaped. In a flashback, he described: "It's some kind of factory, where these people, these very rich people, they pay to torture and kill kids. Mostly backpackers. And they killed two of my friends....They take you from this hostel and they bring you to this factory..." He described how members of the 'hunting club' who killed people all had tattoos of a bloodhound dog. Paxton was asked about a dead man in a toilet stall in Vienna with the same bloodhound tattoo. It was suspected that Paxton had murdered the man, and there was proof that he was there - he had been videotaped on security cameras. One of the questioners showed his own bloodhound tattoo, and Paxton was seized in his bed and stabbed in the heart, and his abdomen was split open and internal organs were seized.

(later) Paxton's Mounted Head in Sasha's Trophy Room

Back in the US, Paxton was regularly waking up in the middle of the night, suffering nightmarish dreams and visions. His concerned girlfriend Stephanie (Jordan Ladd) was upset that he refused to report to the police what had occurred in Slovakia: ("These people are tied into everyone. Somebody starts asking questions, they're gonna come after me, and they're gonna find me..."); she felt that he was "going crazy." The next morning, she found him seated upright at their breakfast kitchen table. He had been cleanly decapitated by a chain-saw (with a cat licking on the bloody headless stump). The severed head was presumably delivered in a large box to the manager of the Elite Hunting Club in Slovakia - it was later displayed in a room of the manager Sasha's home with other trophy heads.

Three new victims for this sequel were in Rome as college-aged art students:

  • Beth (Lauren German), a self-possessed, studious rich girl
  • Whitney (Bijou Phillips), spoiled, pretty, sex-crazed and slutty
  • Lorna (Heather Matarazzo), a socially-awkward, journal-keeping, sheltered nerd-loner from Baltimore, a non-drinker

Beth (Lauren German)

Whitney (Bijou Phillips)

Lorna (Heather Matarazzo)

Beth was enticed by their beautiful and statuesque nude model Axelle (Vera Jordanova), another Slovakian, during art class. On their overnight train ride to Prague, Axelle happened to be traveling there too, and befriended the girls when they ran into trouble with some unpleasant Italian guys. She urged the girls to take a diversion from Prague to Slovakia in Eastern Europe - for a brief vacation spa visit and stay in a hostel with cheap prices of 10 euros for a night. Unbeknownst to them, the creepy hostel Desk Clerk (Milda Havlas) uploaded their passport photos to an auction site where their lives were bid upon.

Unbeknownst to them, Axelle was working for Sasha (Milan Knazko) who was running an underground murder-for-money operation, the Elite Hunting Club in Slovakia. They were betrayed when two Americans businessmen pals bid upon the new crop of victims:

  • Todd (Richard Burgi), a rich, self-assured, bad-ass, arrogant and sadistic individual
  • Stuart (Roger Bart), a wimpy and quieter man who suffered from ethical qualms and second thoughts
Two American Businessmen

Stuart (Rogert Bart)

Todd (Richard Burgi)

Once Todd and Stuart arrived in Slovakia, Stuart expressed concerns that he didn't want to be tattooed with the 'Bloodhound' symbol, as Todd encouraged him: "This is not like going to a whorehouse. You can't just back out." Shortly later, Todd continued to promote the goal of their murder-vacation:

Sometimes, you meet a guy and there's just something f--king scary about him. Something that makes you think this guy has killed somebody. He doesn't have to act tough. He never has to say it. But like an animal, you can sense it. You know that this guy's got the balls to do what few others can. And that's you after today, my friend. People are gonna f--king fear you. Linda is gonna f--king fear you. What we do today is gonna pay off every day for the rest of our f--king lives.

The first casualty was a drunken Lorna, who was kidnapped during the village's outdoor Dozinski (Harvest Festival) by a local man named Roman (Roman Janecka), who had offered her a boat ride. With two accomplices, she was hooded, gagged, and taken away.

She was stripped, gagged, and hung by chains upside down by her ankles in a dungeon - while the female client Mrs. Bathory (Monika Malacova) entered (behind her) and removed her black robe to reveal her nakedness, and reclined below her in an ornately-decorated tub surrounded by candles. Lorna was first terrorized when the bather took a large hand-held scythe by her side and stroked the bare skin of the torture victim, and then cut off her mouth gag. Swinging above her, Lorna begged for her life. She was repeatedly sliced (and had her throat slit) by the sick female client below her who was ecstatic as she slashed away with a large scythe and ecstatically bathed naked in the blood as it dripped down upon her, in the style of Elizabeth Bathory in the large bath, who believed that she would retain her youthful image by bathing in the blood. After reveling in the blood, "Mrs. Bathory" cut Lorna's throat to kill her.

In the heavily-guarded torture factory, Whitney was tied up in a chair and prepped by an old woman applying makeup to her bruised face who said she wouldn't hurt her: ("I clean you up...I make you pretty"). Whitney retaliated by biting off the woman's nose. Whitney escaped, but then was recaptured when security guards locked the gates surrounding her.

Todd and Stuart Suited Up And Ready To Torture

Meanwhile, both Stuart and Todd were alerted that preparations had been made for them. They were chauffeured to the torture factory, and outfitted with skull caps and workers' uniforms. Stuart was led to a cell where Beth was imprisoned, after being prepped by Axelle and then captured by guards and taken to the factory. He was aghast at a collection of saws and other torture implements on a table in a side room. He was still suffering some trepidations and initially thought about letting her go, after telling her: "People come here to kill people." However, once Stuart allowed Beth to leave, he snapped and punched her in the face, and again restrained her in a chair. Stuart became sadistic and deranged, and directed his anger toward her - believing she closely resembled his wife Linda in a loveless marriage.

At the same time, Whitney was being taunted by Todd (Richard Burgi) who was there for recreational slaughter. He was wielding an electric rotary saw, but when the saw became unplugged, he replugged it and accidentally sliced into Whitney's scalp and realized the true horror of what he was doing and began to leave ("I am not going back in that room. I'm done!"). As he fled without killing her (against the rules of his contract), he was attacked and mauled by two German shepherd guard dogs in an elevator and eaten alive.

Still alive, the maimed Whitney was bandaged up and offered at a "special" discount to other clients ("Very good price"), including a middle-aged Italian Cannibal (notorious Italian director Ruggero Deodato of Cannibal Holocaust (1980)), who was busy dining on the thigh meat of another unfortunate victim, a local man named Miroslav (Stanislav Ianevski). When Stuart was offered to kill Whitney, he accepted and sought revenge for Todd's gruesome and bloody death. He left Beth for the time being, and went off to behead Whitney.

When the deranged Stuart soon returned, Beth tricked Stuart into releasing her to have sex on the floor. She reversed things, grabbed a lead pipe and bashed him in the head, and then chained Stuart to the chair. When armed guards and dogs arrived, there was a stand-off as she threatened to castrate Stuart, and bargained to speak with Sasha, the owner of the factory. She offered to exchange some of her fortune (recently inherited from her mother) for her freedom ("I wanna buy my way out of here"). Her offer was accepted to leave, but she first had to become a client and kill someone. Beth agreed - and sliced off Stuart's genitals with a large pair of shears. The castrated parts were tossed to guard dogs to eat, as the screaming Stuart was left to bleed to death. Beth had become an official member of the Elite Hunting group, with a bloodhound tattoo placed in the middle of her back.

That same evening, Beth sought vengeance against Axelle in the woods by ambushing her and beheading her with a large scythe - a gang of kids kicked her head around like a soccer ball as the film ended.

"Anyone who comes to this place cannot leave without killing."

The film's many extreme and nasty scenes: Paxton's decapitated body in the film's prologue, the controversial bloody and torturous death scene of Lorna, the nose-biting scene, the scene of a cannibalistic torturer (notorious Italian director Ruggero Deodato of Cannibal Holocaust (1980)) dining on the thigh meat of an unfortunate, strapped down male victim, and the castration of Stuart.

No Country For Old Men (2007)

The dark Best Picture-winning crime drama from the Coen Brothers was based upon Cormac McCarthy's 2005 novel about a bad drug-deal gone wrong in early 1980s West Texas.

It told of the relentless efforts of a brutal sociopathic hitman Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem), who had escaped policy custody and jail, to recover a satchel with $2 million dollars from the aftermath of the failed drug deal. The money was retrieved by Vietnam veteran and Texas resident Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin).

It was a tense, violent and ferocious portrait of evil in the character of killer Anton Chigurh. The enigmatic Chigurh (one of the scariest villains ever created) killed a number of victims with a compressed-air cattlegun as he pursued the satchel with the money, held by Moss. Moss' theft of the funds led to an exciting chase and cat-and-mouse pursuit game.

Its opening scene was the strangulation murder of a young deputy (Zach Hopkins) by the handcuffed amoral, thrill-killer Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem), using his handcuffs as a garrote from behind. After the killing, he reacted with a grinning, satisfied exhalation, and then walked away from the bloody, scuffed-up floor from the flailing boots of the struggling man.

In the film's infamous coin-toss wager scene, Chigurh threateningly offered a Texaco gas station manager an enigmatic choice, in a cat-and-mouse conversation: ("What's the most you've ever lost in a coin toss?...The most you ever lost in a coin toss....Call it...Yes...Just call it....You need to call it. I can't call it for you. It wouldn't be fair....You've been putting it up your whole life - you just didn't know it. You know what date is on this coin?... 1958. It's been traveling twenty-two years to get here. And now it's here. And it's either heads or tails. And you have to say. Call it....Everything...You stand to win everything, call it.")

Infamous Coin-Toss Sequence

During their exciting chase and cat-and-mouse pursuit game between Chigurh and Moss, the latter waited in his border town hotel room for the arrival of Chigurh to collect the money - Moss had the funds in a satchel (not knowing it had signaled his exact location with a hidden radio transponder to hired killer Chigurh). In the tense scene, Moss discovered the transponder and knew Chigurh would arrive momentarily for a showdown there; he sat readied with his shotgun after turning out the light and peering under the door. The two engaged in a vicious and bloody struggle that ended on the street and left Moss severely wounded (with a gunshot wound on his right side), and Chigurh shot in the leg.

In the concluding scene, the evil and remorseless killer Chigurh confronted Vietnam veteran and Texas resident Llewelyn Moss's young and innocent wife Carla Jean (Kelly Macdonald) in her bedroom, before her murder (off-screen); she spoke first: "I knew this wasn't done with. I ain't got the money. What little I had is long gone and there's bills a-plenty to pay yet. I buried my mother today. Ain't paid for that neither....I need to sit down. You got no cause to hurt me...You don't have to do this...(she refused the coin toss) I knowed you was crazy when I saw you sitting there. I knowed exactly what was in store for me... I ain't gonna call it...The coin don't have no say - it's just you" - she was predictably murdered (off-screen), signified by Chigurh leaving the house alone.

In the sorrowful ending sequence - retired Sheriff Ed Tom Bell recollected a second dream about his father to his wife Loretta (Tess Harper) - a metaphor for mortality in life shortly after the brutal and senseless deaths of his Vietnam vet friend Llewelyn Moss (by Mexicans) and Moss' wife Carla Jean by psycho-killer Anton Chigurh: ("..The second one, it was like we was both back in older times and I was on horseback goin' through the mountains of a night. Goin' through this pass in the mountains. It was cold and there was snow on the ground and he rode past me and kept on goin'. Never said nothin' goin' by - just rode on past. And he had his blanket wrapped around him and his head down. When he rode past, I seen he was carryin' fire in a horn the way people used to do, and I-I could see the horn from the light inside of it - about the color of the moon. And in the dream I knew that he was goin' on ahead and he was fixin' to make a fire somewhere out there in all that dark and all that cold. And I knew that whenever I got there, he'd be there. And then I woke up").

"You've been putting it up your whole life - you just didn't know it. You know what date is on this coin?... 1958. It's been traveling twenty-two years to get here. And now it's here. And it's either heads or tails. And you have to say. Call it....You stand to win everything, call it."

"And in the dream I knew that he was goin' on ahead and he was fixin' to make a fire somewhere out there in all that dark and all that cold. And I knew that whenever I got there, he'd be there. And then I woke up." (last lines)

Superbad (2007)

This Greg Mottola-directed raunchy teen, coming-of-age, sex comedy (from producer Judd Apatow, and with a semi-autobiographical script written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg when they were teens themselves) was regarded as the Millennium's new American Pie (1999). It paid homage to American Graffiti (1973) and Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982). It was a tremendously funny and popular hit during the summer of 2007 (but without the requisite nudity of this genre).

The film was similarly obsessed with male teen anxieties and sexual obsessions, including being genitalia-focused, vulgar and sex-crazed about getting laid before leaving for college, evidenced by these quotes:

  • Seth: "You know when you hear girls saying, like: 'Ah, I was so s--tfaced last night, I shouldn't have f--ked that guy?' We could be that mistake!"
  • Evan: "Just imagine if girls weren't weirded out by our boners and stuff, and just like wanted to see them. That's the world I one day want to live in."

The two main characters-buddies were two outcast, nerdy, inseparable, socially-awkward, best-friend high-school seniors at Clark County's Secondary School, with only two weeks left in school until graduation, who were still awkwardly growing-up:

  • Seth (Jonah Hill), chubby, talkative and assertive, impulsive, overweight, porn-lover, with an obsession about drawing penises or telling dirty jokes
  • Evan (Michael Cera), slim and tall, slightly shy, more serious, intellectual, and rational

Throughout much of the film, both Seth and Evan were on a quest to give up their virginity to two female students, Jules (Emma Stone) and Becca (Martha MacIsaac) respectively, to impress them and get them drunk by providing the booze at Jules' underaged graduation party.

In the opening sequence, the two talked with Evan's mother Jane (Stacy Edwards), as she leaned forward and revealed her chest to speak to them through the car window, about how they would really miss each other next year by being split up. Evan had been accepted to Dartmouth, while Seth would be attending the local Junior college. As they drove off, Seth boldly noted to Evan: "I am truly jealous that you got to suck on those tits when you were a baby."

The two unpopular guys often talked about scoring with girls, and dreamed of sexual experiences in their future, while usually going without dates, party invites or relationships.

In class, Evan was caught absent-mindedly staring at classmate Becca's breasts - he was obviously infatuated with her, but awkwardly avoided her questions about why he never seemed to attend any parties.

In Class - Evan Caught Staring at Classmate Becca's Breasts

In Seth's home economics class, when he was paired up with Jules (Emma Stone), she invited Seth and Evan to her graduation party that night at her house. When their nerdy and dorky friend Fogell (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) met with them shortly later and bragged about going to obtain a false identification card, Seth was pleased: "You could buy us booze now."

At the school lunch table, Seth explained to Evan why he didn't have a good opinion of Evan's 'crush' Becca. In a flashback to describe how he was traumatized at a young age, he embarrassingly divulged to Evan his obsessive childhood habit of artfully drawing male genitalia:

"Here it comes. When I was a little kid, I kinda had this problem. And it's not even that big of a deal. Something like 8 percent of kids do it, but whatever. For some reason, I don't know why, I would just kinda sit around all day and draw pictures of dicks."

Seth as An Overweight 4th Grader Drawing Genitalia Pictures

Seth told about how in 4th grade as a 10 year-old young boy (Casey Margolis), his neighboring seatmate Becca (Laura Marano) happened to see one of his pictures (a "real big, veiny triumphant bastard" he called it) that he was finishing up, when the drawing was knocked onto the floor (Evan was astonished by the story: "You hit Becca's foot with your dick?"). She screamed, ran from her desk and out of the classroom, and reported him to the school principal. The incident traumatized him with the added revelation that his Ghostbusters lunch box was a "treasure chest" full of a variety of dick drawings. Seth recalled being disciplined by the school:

"They literally made me stop eating food that was shaped like dicks. No hot dogs, no popsicles. Do you know how many foods are shaped like dicks? The best kinds."

Evan called Seth's obsession "really messed up...super gay!" and left the table. In the school hallway, Seth bragged to Jules about how he was getting a fake ID, and went ahead to promise that he would bring alcohol to her party. Jules was pleased and half-joked: "You scratch our backs, we'll scratch yours." Seth inappropriately joked back: "Well, Jules, the funny thing about my back is that it's located on my cock." Seth felt he had scored and was already anticipating sleeping and having sex with Jules. Following Seth's lead, Evan further boasted to Becca that he could provide her with a bottle of Goldslick Vodka (with gold flakes in it) at the party.

That afternoon, after Fogell acquired a fake ID (for Hawaii) to purchase alcohol, he explained to his pals why he had changed his name to "McLovin", and they derided him about how awful his ID was: "It was between that or Muhammed.... Muhammed is the most commonly used name on Earth"; Seth vehemently complained: "You look like a future pedophile in this picture, number 1. Number 2: it doesn't even have a first name, it just says McLovin!...Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?...No one's McLovin. McLovin's never existed because that's a made up dumb F--KIN' FAIRY TALE NAME, YOU F--K!"

Fogell's Fake Hawaii ID

Seth believed that Fogell would fail to be able to buy liquor for the party with his fake ID, so he determinedly took drastic measures by entering a Good Shopper Store to steal bottles of booze. He experienced a number of fantasy scenarios (success when posing as 22 years old to buy $80 dollars worth of liquor, help from an elderly lady, and a confrontation with a security guard who slashed his throat) before leaving empty-handed. It was now Fogell's turn to enter TJ's Liquor Store and test out his false ID.

Outside as they waited, Seth chastised Evan for being prepared by bringing a condom and spermicidal lube ("That wasn't the plan! We had a plan! I can't believe you did that without even consulting me about it!"). They also spotted a classmate Carey Hutchins who had switched schools. Reportedly, she had breast reduction surgery, to Seth's amazement: "What?! Making her tits smaller? That's like slapping God across the face for giving you a gorgeous gift"; Evan explained: "She had back problems, man. And it's not just making them smaller. They completely reshape them. They make 'em more supple and symmetrical... now that she can jog comfortably, she's in the best shape she's ever..."

Meanwhile, Fogell/McLovin succeeded in illegally purchasing alcohol from clerk Mindy (Erica Vittina Phillips), but became involved in a store hold-up and was punched in the face by the hooded robber, who grabbed cash from the register and fled. When a pair of humorous but inept and talkative cops arrived: Officer Slater (Bill Hader) and Officer Michaels (Seth Rogen), Seth and Even feared that Fogell was going to be arrested. They were unaware that the cops agreed to drive him to the party - and proceeded for much of the evening to do a "ride-along" while blasting the police siren to barrel through red lights, drinking after a call to Bailey's Bar & Grill, taking breathalyzer tests, and practice target-shooting at a stop sign.

Meanwhile in the store's parking lot, Seth panicked with Evan about their lost money and was hit (but uninjured) by a car backing up and driven by Francis (Joe Lo Truglio). In exchange for not reporting the accident to the police, they agreed to be taken to another house party with alcohol, where the angry home owner Mark (Kevin Corrigan) beat up Francis outdoors. Seth ended up 'dirty dancing' with Mark's drunken, menstruating fiancee Jacinda (Carla Gallo), causing a "period blood" stain on his pants, while Evan was cornered in a room with frightening cocaine-snorting thugs, where he was forced to sing The Guess Who's "These Eyes." Before Seth could escape with two laundry detergent jugs from the basement filled with beer, the jealous Mark confronted him with the blood stain, and a brawl broke out.

As the two ran from the party, Seth accused Evan of "bailing" on him. They experienced an intense falling out when Seth complained about how they weren't going to the same college together. Evan hurt Seth's feelings by accusing him of wasting his time for three years: "I'm not going to let you slow me down any more, Seth....I've wasted the last three years of my life sitting around talking bulls--t with you, man. Instead of chasing girls and making friends, I've just sat around wasting all my time with you. And now, because of you, I'm going to college a f--king friendless virgin." And then coincidentally as they argued on a deserted street, the cruiser with the two officers and McLovin' drove by and Seth was hit again. When McLovin' recognized his two friends, they all took off on foot, ended up on a bus, but were thrown out by the bus driver after accidentally shattering the bottle on Goldslick Vodka on the floor of the bus.

They walked three blocks to Jules' party - with some of the stolen beer and the booze purchased by Fogell. As they walked up to the party house, Fogell and Evan admitted to Seth that they were going to be roommates at Dartmouth, upsetting Seth even further: ("...because you're a backstabber and you lied to your best friend, and you only want to hang out with Fogell, and you just don't care anymore?")

The drunken Seth was the hit of the party-goers with the booze and stories of the night's adventures. He approached non-drinker Jules for kisses and sex, but she rejected him due to his alcoholic stupor. Meanwhile, a "smashed" Becca offered a b-job and sex to Evan in Jules' bedroom ("I want you to be my first, I want you inside me, just go with it"), but he respectfully declined due to her physical condition - and then she threw up. The only one to semi-succeed with a partner was Fogell who spent time with attractive, red-haired foreign exchange student Nicola (Aviva Farber). Later, a saddened Seth confessed to Jules that his dream was to have her as his "girlfriend" in the summer, but he had failed. And then he accidentally passed out, fell forward and head-butted Jules, giving her a black eye.

Drunken Becca's Seduction of Evan Before Throwing Up

The party ended due to the arrival of Fogell's two cop friends due to a noise complaint about the underage drinking party. To save his passed-out friend Evan, Seth carried him out of the house. Upstairs, the cops interrupted Fogell in a bedroom having sex with Nicola (he was technically no longer a virgin!), and confessed that they had played along with him the entire time - "We know you're not 25, man. We're not idiots, McLovin." They also apologized for 'blocking his c--k' - and to make it up to him, the cops 'fake'-arrested Fogell to increase his 'bad-ass' reputation with his schoolmates, who then witnessed him being dragged away. After driving off, they did wheelies and donuts with the cruiser and eventually destroyed the car by crashing it and setting it on fire with a flaming alcohol bottle (Molotov cocktail) - and Fogell was allowed to take gun shots at the burning vehicle. Later, they would claim that a crack-head stole the cruiser.

Seth and Evan returned to Evan's house, where they had an old-fashioned sleep-over with sleeping bags. Seth admitted that he had actually known three weeks earlier that Evan and Fogell were going to be college roommates. Evan confessed: "I don't wanna live with Fogell. I never wanted to live with him....I'm afraid to live with strangers. I can't do it." The two unabashedly stated their lasting love for each other, and reconciled as best friends.

The next day, Seth and Evan met up with Jules and Becca at the mall, where they all remained friends and went shopping together. Seth joined Jules to buy cover-up for her black-eye, while Evan and Becca joined up to buy comforters.

"I am truly jealous that you got to suck on those tits when you were a baby."

"Just imagine if girls weren't weirded out by our boners and stuff, and just like wanted to see them. That's the world I one day want to live in."

"You know when you hear girls saying, like: 'Ah, I was so s--tfaced last night, I shouldn't have f--ked that guy?' We could be that mistake!"
